Nobody in the case says the word trap at the beginning. Trap is a word people use afterward, when they need the story to sound simpler than it felt while they were walking into it. In this episode, Shen Yan is not simply following sound archive conspiracy; Shen Yan is learning the local grammar of municipal sound archive and old flooded school basement. The grammar is made of rain, drainage maps, waveform scars, sealed accident reports. Each detail seems harmless by itself, but together they create a sentence nobody wanted spoken aloud.
