S04E06: The Ninth Date

Nobody in the case says the word trap at the beginning. Trap is a word people use afterward, when they need the story to sound simpler than it felt while they were walking into it. In this episode, Lin Lan is not simply following radio evidence on a haunted coast; Lin Lan is learning the local grammar of Wushi Lighthouse, sea caves, and the storm channel. The grammar is made of salt static, reversed broadcasts, foghorns, wet stone, missing names. Each detail seems harmless by itself, but together they create a sentence nobody wanted spoken aloud.
