Nobody in the case says the word trap at the beginning. Trap is a word people use afterward, when they need the story to sound simpler than it felt while they were walking into it. In this episode, Chen Ruo is not simply following hospital simulation ward; Chen Ruo is learning the local grammar of Mingde Hospital after midnight and the impossible seventh floor. The grammar is made of elevator errors, monitor beeps, consent records, server fans. Each detail seems harmless by itself, but together they create a sentence nobody wanted spoken aloud.
