NARRATOR: Tomas was charged with murder, fraud, and attempted evidence destruction. Ellen pleaded to financial crimes. Luca lost his restaurant and three sponsorships. Mina kept her license because sugar, unlike chefs, had done exactly what physics required.

MINA ROSE: Will you review my new place?

BEA HOLT: If nobody dies, I will try not to punish you for the lack of spectacle.

NARRATOR: Vesper's final receipt listed twelve courses, one counterfeit cellar, and a service charge nobody paid. Bea published the investigation without scoring the food. Her editor objected until subscriptions tripled.

NARRATOR: Months later, Mina opened a six-seat bakery. The napkins were paper, the wine honest, and every reservation existed. Bea ordered an apricot tart. Mina watched her take the first bite.

BEA HOLT: Excellent acidity. Criminally uneven crust.

MINA ROSE: I will put that on the window.
